Firmware 2.02.32: no WiFi

Link to firmware:

http://download.wdc.com/wdtv/wdtvlivegen3_2.02.32.zip

Open the VER file and change it to read:

VERSION='3.02.32'
LOCATION='wdtvlivegen3.bin'
PKG_LOCATION='wdtvlivegen3.pkg'
ROOTFS2=''

Then save the files to USB and install. Note: Even after the upgrade is 100% complete, it’ll still tell you there’s a new version available – you’ll need to remove the USB (or delete the firmware files) to prevent that.

I have the same problem!!! After rollback at 2.0.86 the problem is still here!!! NO WIFI, NO POSSIBILITY TO CHOOSE WI FI or ETHERNET!!!

I install from the file but… the problem is still here. NO WIFI no CHOOSE of network!!! I a REAL BUG!!!

Well, the good news is the upgrade went through.

The bad news is that there still isn’t a wifi connection.  All addresses still 0.0.0.0 and attempting to connect it says it can’t obtain an IP address.

I have the same problem as well.

I was able to finish the update to 2.02.32, but no WiFi.

What seems to be missing is the entire workflow for selecting Wired vs. Wireless, and selecting a network to connect to.  Network Settings take you directly to the Automatic vs. Manual setup for your IP, DNS, etc, but without actually being able to connect to a wireless network that page is of no value.  I had no WiFi issues before this firmware update.

I’m hoping that someone has a bug fix or solution soon.

My unit upgraded to the latest firmware without trouble. Wirless is available and works although I prefer wired instead.

Hello,

We have passed this along to support.

Thanks - if it helps, I was connected over WiFi when first kicking off the firmware update.  It failed on part 2 due to no longer having a WiFi connection.  I was able to complete the upgrade by wiring in to an ethernet cable, but still can’t get the wireless option to appear.

Hi, happy to report that after disabling WiFiDirect auto-detect and resetting to factory defaults, the Wired/Wireless network setup option reappeared and Wifi is working again. Thanks to everyone.

I’ve gone back to the previous update BUT still no WiFi. The wife will not be happy tonight :cry:

I RESOLVE!!!  Rollback to old firmware of start 2013.  After make factory reset. Unplug the wdtv from electric cable and turn off the wifi of your house for ten minutes. Then turn on wifi and wdtv and the wifi option back!!!  TRY IT!!! :slight_smile:

This is P1 blocking ticket…as far as i understand they removed the wireless -  wired option in network setup.

Waiting for the solution…

I’ve now got 2.02.32 working with WiFi and everything seems to be working properly and I can play all my videos (.avi, .mp4 and .mkv)

Following is what I did:

Yesterday the update failed so I downloaded 2.02.32 and did a manual update. I was not able to connect to WiFi even after turning off WiFiDirect auto-detect and doing a factory reset.

I downloaded 2.01.86 and installed it but still no WiFi. I turned off WiFiDirect auto-detect and did a factory reset but no help.

I turned off WiFi last night and this morning I turned off the WDTV box for a minute or so. I left the WiFi off and did a manual update to 2.02.32. And it worked because it displayed the Wired/wireless screen. I turned on WiFi, connected and everything is working perfectly.

From the above it seems to me that it’s best to have your WiFi off when you do the update.

Hopefully this helps a few others.

Hi… How to block auto update on SMP? Thanks

Firmware does not automatically update (unless you press “OK” on the automatic new Firmware notification screen)

To disable the notification:  Setup > System > Auto Detect New Firmware > Off

(note: you need to scroll down to the bottom of the list to see it)

Thanks Joey, that solved my problem. :smiley:

Do you have any reply from them?

I downloaded 2.02.32 today (30 October) and faced the same problem described here. No wifi connection - no wifi network selection in the Network Setup menu at all.

During two months, are there any quick solution? Download something, copy to USB stick, start from the menu system and wifi is restored?

(Factory setting reset hasn’t solved the problem, not even with turned off-wifi, as told above)

thanks in advance

finally Joey’s hint from another thread solved my problem:

http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Streaming/2-02-32-Firmware-no-longer-allows-content/m-p/781937/highlight/false#M32423

Try my way:

After you search the wifi (auto search) in your house, select it, enter your wifi password. Then the options “Auto”  “Manually”  are displayed on the screen, you select “Manually”. Then you manually enter the IP address, subnet mask (It is displayed when you search wifi in auto mode) .

(something like 169.254.22.413 and 255.255.0.0, the rest is all zeros).

Good luck.

THANKYOU  THANKYOU THANKYOU!.
