Files not appearing after update to 7.15.0-160

As in the title.
I’ve got 2 My Cloud Home devices connected to the same network, a 6TB and an 8TB.
I bought the 8TB a few weeks ago and was slowly migrating everything across, so everything was hunky dory and working fine. That is until one morning the 6TB said it was performing an update and my files were “being migrated”.
Since then, when I log in to them on the desktop app, or even the mobile app, I can see the files on the 8TB, but not the 6TB. Instead I get a “Something didn’t load properly” message on the app, and a “There’s nothing here yet” message in Windows.
The 8TB is showing as running version 7.14.0-130, on a local connection, while the 6TB is now showing running 7.15.0-160 on a relay connection. It never showed relay before!!

What went wrong and how can I fix it?
I’ve tried rebooting but it makes no difference.
The PLEX side of things still works on TVs and the like, but not on my windows machine if that makes any sense.

I have same device and same problems…

WD got in touch to direct me to a knowledge base article. Apparently this is known and can take up to 5 days for the drive to fix itself. I was told not to unplug, turn off or reset the device otherwise it adds more time. My drive is still fixing itself.

Hi!

Has your NAS came back to life?
Having the same issue here. Although the information that the NAS has 80% left of space, I can’t get access to any of the folders that existed.

Nope, not yet. Showing 50% but can only get access to the public folder by mapping it. Discovery app says it’s off line.

Hello!

My Cloud is used for business, so we are straggling on having it online.
I made a reboot, and it started saying its updating.
It stays like that for a long time 30-60min not sure, and I gain access to the files throw the browser.
We came across something strange. If no one uses the WD Discovery, the browser access seams to be stable. It manage to be like that for 8h, until we tested to access throw the WD Discovery again. And in short minutes we lost all access to files and folders.
If any one can report there access and behaviour, it could help us understand better the issue.

Best Regards.

Don’t ever start any Update by WD. It will for sure cause loss of connection and will drive you mad. It’s sad but true.

Didn’t give me a choice, just did it. How do you disable updates?

I think it is not possible to disable updates on a My Cloud Home model.
If you now how, please share!

Update. After weeks of “conversations” and me sending the error log, WD have now told me my device is “faulty” and I have to purchase another one, but as a gesture they’ll give me a coupon for some money off!!!

Considering it was their update that broke it in the first place, I’d say this is beyond cheeky and going into downright sabotage. Is this the new company policy to make more money. Send an update that breaks people’s devices so they have to spend money on new ones.

Poor show and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
