Files do not show up when transferring to new MAC

I recently purchased a new MAC.  I copied the files from my old computer (which was not a MAC) to my WD external hard drive.  I plugged the hard drive up to copy the files over to my new MAC and they don’t appear in the retrieval window.  Is there something I need to do to get them to show up?

If you used WD Smartware in a Windows computer, to backup your data, then you will not be able to restore in a Mac computer.

You can manually access the drive and look for your data.

i’m having the same issue as the person who posted above, but I cant actually manually access the drive – when I open the ‘applications’ window on my new mac, the HD isnt listed there, NOR under ‘Devices.’

Help!

Help!

check Disk Utility to see if the drive appears

you might have an unformatted drive or a power issue
