File will play from attached usb drive but not from network

I am trying to play a h.264 (.ts) file .  This is an old home movie that I transferred to the computer using the hauppage hdpvr. 

It plays fine on the wdtv live plus when I have it in an attached usb file. 

However when I try to play it from the networked media server, nothing happens.  The media player shows the file; when the file is selected, a dark screen with the “play” arrow appear and then nothing happens.

I am using the tversity media server.  Tversity works fine for me with mkv files burned from my dvds. 

Any thoughts?

It may be that tversity does not serve that type of file. Try network shares instead.
