"File is currently open by another user"

We are using the My Cloud EX2 Ultra.

After a few weeks of using the EX2 Ultra without any problems, we are consistently getting errors saying that the file (usually a Word doc or Excel spreadsheet) is open by another user, even though this isn’t true. Sometimes half the files on the drive can’t be edited because they are supposedly open. Is there a way to clear the cache on the drive?
