Fed up - WD HD Live and Windows 7 (x64)

Hi,

I’m new and I thought I would buy this piece of kit to resolve a problem of playing back my media from my PC to my TV. A great idea one would think. So, I parted with my cash and installed and networked it up.

My WD HD live is connect to my PC via the router (CAT5). My PC is running windows 7 (x64). I have set up my PC to share folders and WD HD live see’s everything.

However, playback is tempermental. Sometimes WD HD live will play movies and sometimes all I get is the spinning wheel on the screen. And this is when playing the same movie (AVI) file on seperate occasions. This is driving me nuts and it is clearly not fit for its purpose. When this happens then I cannot access anything else but I can the the files I want but playback - No chance… just a spinning wheel on my screen.

After resetting both the PC and the WD HD live (power off etc…) it resets and if I am lucky I get to playback the movie I want or if not… a spinning wheel.

Any ideas??? So far I feel this has been a waste of money! It is all very well blaming Windows for everything. Why work one time and not another???

Did you read through the forums for a resolution? If you did you will find that it is a Windows 7 networking issue and not the fault of the WDTV Live box.

The issue is well documented on this site and Windows 7 forum sites.

Google is your best friend for resolving problems. Google windows 7 x64 video networking issues; there are a number of comprehensive guides addressing the issue and how to resolve it.
