Failure after firmware update


I got a WD MyBook Essential 1TB USB 2.0.

After a fiirmware update failure the drive is no longer shown up in My Computer. When i try to update again I got the message “the right firmware of your disk cannot been determined by the Update program for WD -firmware. Please contact technical support for  help” ( translated from Dutch) .

I also tried the disk on a laptop but the same result. The drive is not being recognized

Anybody have a solution? Please help.

I use Windows7 64bit.

It is probable that the firmware was not installed correctly. Check if the my book is recognized on the disk management, if you cannot see it there then you need to contact tech support to replace it. :confounded:
