I have a 1TB My Book Essential it no longer gets detected when i plug it in however it shows up in device manager but with i try to open in via computer windows exeplorer crashes i did try computer>manage storage nothing shows up until i unplug it and it shows it as (raw) how can i add it back as NTFS when i cant access it D: any advice or ideas will be much appreciated!
You’ve probably got corrupt partition data. You can try something like TestDisk http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk or Partition Find and Mount http://findandmount.com/ . As a last resort you can run the Windows Command to convert FAT32 to NTFS. That sometimes restores the partition data to a Raw partition. Here is the MS instruction http://support.microsoft.com/kb/214579 I’ve seen this fix on a few different Windows forums.
