External Hard Drive Malfunctioning

I was moving my PC around my house with my drive connected to it. It was only about 2-3 inches off the ground when it slipped loose from my hand, and hit the wooden floor. It wasn’t too big of a drop, so I didn’t think much of it until I couldn’t open one of the folders I had on it. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting it, but it started making these weird buzzing noises for about 10-20 seconds. A short while after, the Windows Explorer comes up saying the drive has malfunctioned. I tried a few methods of fixing it like Safe Mode, uninstalling it, but nothing really seemed to work. Same noise, and same message. Did I just permanently mess up the inside of this thing, or could there be another way to fix it?

probably killed it, disks are not shock resistant

sometimes that’s all it takes.

Most likely. A number of internal mechanical parts could have been damaged.

If the Data on it is Very important … then get a Quote from a Professional Data Recovery Company

If you attempt to repair it yourself, the chances of the data being recoverable are low … as you’ll probably to more damage than good.
