External Hard Drive for Home Recording

I’m looking for an external drive to use as storage for home recording purposes. I’m a budget, so the 2 that I was looking at were the Elements, and the My Passport, both 500GB. I’m a complete dumby when it comes to this stuff, so I apologize in advance, but with that said, I have a couple of questions…

Do you think that either of these will suffice?

Are they compatibile with OSX 10.6.8? (I think the answer is yes, but figured I’d just double check)

And what is the largest file size that can be transferred to the hard drive?

Hello, welcome to the community.

To aswer your questions:

Do you think that either of these will suffice?

It all depends on what you are planning on recording.

Are they compatibile with OSX 10.6.8? (I think the answer is yes, but figured I’d just double check)

Both of them can be re-formatted to used on OSX

And what is the largest file size that can be transferred to the hard drive?

If you format them in Mac OS Extended (Journaled), you can transfer a video file the same size of the drive meaning ~500 GB

Appreciate the response!
