External Hard Disk dropped on the floor

External Hard Disk fell on a tiled floor. Now, when connected it seems to be running although with some grinding noises. It does appear in the “Safely Remove Hardware” list but it does not show in “My Computer”. Therefore, cannot access data at all.
Does anyone know whether the disk can be salvaged? Can the data be recovered, somehow? By whom?

Thank you for your feedback.

It’s douubtful unless you want to go to professional data recovery. The disk is probably physically damaged and would have to be disassembled in a clean room setting.

My WD 1TB fell on the floor too. If I’m going to have it fixed, will the warranty still cover it?

Not if you dropped it or opened the case.
