External Drive

I was unable to post this in the external drive forum and my efforts to submit to WD customer support have been unsuccessful.

My problem is that my WD2500 is not being recognized.  I have tried to use multiple computers; desktop and laptops.  I have changed cables, I use a Y USB cable.  Nothing has worked thus far.  The drive shows up as drive E - local drive and I am unable to access the data.

Does anybody have a solution?

Use a data recovery software to retrieve the data and reformat

the unit has work for a long time so don’t trust important data to it

consider upgrading to a newer unit
