Extended Drive Check - Smartware vs DLG vs Windows

Just wondering if anyone can advise the best way to check for bad sectors and generally keep the drive healthy. I’ve noticed that the extended drive check in Smartware (latest version) takes less than half the time that WD Data Lifeguard takes. Does this mean DLG is doing a more thorough job and is the preferred tool? Does the DLG extended check update the bad sector table the way the Windows utility does with the check for bad sectors option? If so is it advisable to stick with DLG for the surface scan and to only use Windows to check the file system? Thanks Steve

Keep using the test that SmartWare is bundled with, this is optimize to run with your drive, and it can give you a better reading that any other application.
