Hi,
I have a Ex2100, I use a few features on it - I have an issue though - recently I started using the wordpress app - took a bit of time to figure out the settings but eventually could see it from the internet side. So lets say my wordpress site is http://mywddevice/wordpress - I noted that if i just entered http://mywddevice it would take me to to the login for mycloud - this i didnt want, so then i disabled remote access and obviously my website went too with it.
Is there anyway to have wordpress and photo backup working without having this login dashboard at the root - obviously both use port 80 so if i disable remote dashboard it also disables the wordpress,
I though maybe i could ssh on and just move the index.php that seems to be the login url - but thats on a read-only part.
Appreciate any help.
Hi,
As per your query, we regret to inform you that the upgrade, modification or change to 3rd party apps outside of the version available from the WD App Store is not supported.
Please check this link for more details: https://supporten.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10655
Our sincerest apologies for this inquiry.
I’m not really requesting to change a 3rd party app or any western digital app - my suggestion for moving the index.php was just throwing ideas around
I was just hoping that you could use Wordpress and the app for backing up your photos without having to have the login url for the management dashboard on an internet facing ip - for obvious security reasons - I don’t believe the app for the photos uses this url - and Wordpress doesn’t either so it would be nice to have the option to switch it off - I am not trying to change Wordpress to use the root - I think you might mean that - I just would prefer a 404 if you browsed to the root and am fine with amending the /Wordpress to get to the Wordpress side
So I suppose the bottom line question is
Is it possible to use Wordpress and The photo backup option in the WD app without having the dashboard login presented to the outside world
I don’t think it is - and if not I would suggest it as a feature request - I am not sure about others but I would prefer seek an alternative Wordpress solution if it means I have a login page for my device published on the internet side -
Spent a bit more time on this and have narrowed it down a bit
The App with photo backup works regardless of the remote dashboard setting so we can leave this element out
The main problem seems to be if Remote Dashboard Access is set to off my Wordpress site stops working and all that is shown when I browse to it (from outside the network) is a blank white page - if I enable remote dashboard access it starts working straight away - is there a dependency on remote access dashboard to be on in order for the Wordpress site to work from the internet - I don’t think that makes sense to me and not sure if it’s a bug or intended - the Wordpress site works always when inside the LAN - this behaviour is only seen from outside the network
