EX2 Ultra excessive DNS checks to itself

WD EX2 Ultra with firmware 2.30.174.
My DNS reports the unit is performing an inordinate amount of DNS checks - approximately 1444 per 24 hours.

The DNS check corresponds to the EX2 obtaining an IP address for the EX2’s assigned hostname.

I cannot determine any addons nor settings that could mitigate these excessive checks.
(Even if the unit is given a static IP address, this check continues.)

Issue continues with firmware 2.30.181

I don’t want to waste my time just to find out that this is the way the software engineers made the unit to function.

Is this excessive and inordinate amount of DNS checks by design victor1501?
