EX2 Ultra and power down

I have just set up my new My Cloud EX2 Ultra 8TB device. Everything works fine. It will eventually replace some older Buffalo NAS devices I have.

However, the Buffalo devices have the ability to be woken up when the network starts up. I am in the habit of shutting down my network each evening, and starting up again the following day. This is a simple process when the NAS devices wake up when the network comes up.

However, I don’t seem to be able to do this with the EX2 Ultra. Further to this, when I powered it up this morning it immediately went into a file check process. This concerns me, as it appears I need to perform an orderly shutdown on the device prior to shutting down the network.

So,

  1. Is there a way of getting the device to shutdown (or hibernate) with the network?
  2. What are the recommendations on powering down the device?

Thanks,
Lennie

In order to shut down your unit, the Ethernet cable must be disconnected after the unit goes to sleep at the time of this post.
