EX2 Power light continously dissolves on and off

I was under the impression that the blue power light should be solid blue and always on.
I know that it flashes for a firmware update but mine slowly dissolves on and off.
Is this normal?

…now after several hours it finally stopped and it is back to a solid blue…no idea what it was doing.
