Hi there WD people. So, I’ve had the EX2 for a while and it suits our small studio down to the ground. It’s plugged into a router and have two Macs working from it simultaneously. On the whole all is fine, but it never appears to rest and is always processing/working. I guess that this would be the case when we’re working off it - but I can arrive in the studio in the evening or early morning and it’s working away and having a bit of a party. Any tips or suggestions as to why this is would be a massive help - and fingers crossed someone out there can put my mind to rest that this isn’t uncommon. Thanks in advance. David
Hello,
Do you have any time machine backups or perhaps remote access enabled on the unit? Perhaps this is why the unit is in activity.
Thanks for the feedback ArMak… no time machine backups nor remote access - so I’m still puzzled?! David
Hi, I don’t know if it applies to you, but I found that if I mount a folder from EX2 on desktop or my computer window, or any window,…as soon as I open the window with this folder inside, the EX2 spins up and the disks are in action.
ie: In Windows, I placed a folder from EX2 on the desktop, and found that each time I turned my PC on, the EX2 disks start spinning. So I removed the mount from there, and placed it in a separate window for the EX2 not to spin up
Thanks for the note. The problem was as simple as the EX2 being open to access remotely, as far to say as soon as this feature was turned off it no longer continually processed. Thanks again.
