Any ideas how can I keep my custom /etc/motd on WD My Book Live?
Default one is back after any reboot.
Stupid & un-needed “feature”.

This “stupid and unneeded feature” is the default behavior for Debian-based systems.
I recommend not changing any system files on the My Book Live at all. But if I wanted to, I would read the man page for motd.tail before changing anything at all.
Even then, I still wouldn’t do it on a network appliance.
OK. My apologies, if it is by default that way in debian (didn’t know).
On MyBook World Edition is put nice sexy ascii babe in motd
