Just confirmed that the MCH has an IP address and a MAC address. When I try to access the device I get the following
‘errTooManyRequests’
The danged thing worked until I upgraded to Big Sur. I’m on an Intel MacBook Pro. Every thing worked fine a few months ago. Since the update nothing but trouble. I have uninstalled and installed WD Discovery endless times. The MHC now consistently shows Offline. It is no longer possible to access any data through the web either.
I’m really sick and tired of trying. It was bad enough after the move to Catalina. How do I get my data off before I give up on this working ever again?
My Cloud Home should never be the single source of your backup. You should always have 3 copies of your important data in 2 locations, one of which should be offsite.
Perhaps you could use a Windows PC to access the MCH for now or use your mobile device and download the data from the MCH to a USB HDD connected to the MCH. The price of a similar size USB HDD as the MCH could be as affordable as half the price of the MCH.
After my last installation of WD Discovery the mobile app now responds as if I never loaded data to the MHC. This is after several various reassuring messages over the last few months that the system was just working on the update and my data was safe.
By the way, I don’t have a PC.
So now my question is, where is my data if not in the My Cloud Home system that was supposedly safe during this upgrade?
I upgraded to Big Sur and now have found a weird issue with my SMB connection for work. I can connect just fine, but as soon as I try and save anything to the server, the connection drops and completely breaks my network connection. Wipes out Email, chat and internet functions but still shows I’m connected to wifi or ethernet.
