Error code 36 when transferring video

We purchased a G Drive USB 2TB, and on many occasions, when we try to move or copy video files to the drive, we receive The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “file name” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)
When we try to copy or move files to a portable 500GB drive, there’s no issue. We’re thinking we have a bad drive here. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Best,

John

How is the drive formatted? Did you leave it as it was out of the box or did you change it?

Is this a mobile USB drive or one that plugs into the wall? Are you transferring from the computer to the drive or from another drive to this drive?

It was formatted to ExFat out of the box. The transfers are from a MacBook Pro to the 2TB drive. As mentioned, we changed to a portable drive (Touro) which is also ExFat, with no problems. We also have other G-Tech drives here at our school that we tested, with no problems, that’s why we think we need to replace this.

In that situation you can go for a replacement by creating an RMA on our website: RMA creation
