Erratic idle drive activity

I’ve had a 2TB My Cloud drive for about a year now and generally i find it very good!

However it seems to be very senstive to waking from sleep… quite often the drive is spinning away into the night when all networked hardware is off that would be talking to it. or it will spin down for a while then wake again…

i cant work out why it behaves like this, but i wonder if there is some way to have the directory listing stored in memory… allowing non read/write access not to spin up an idle drive…

fyi, i have all features disabled, inc media streaming / i tunes server / auto update / etc

With all those disabled, you still have SMB/AFP services running. Any requests from the pc/mac will eventually wakeup the nas harddisk.
