The Western Digital WDS500G SATA SSD Blue as the system disk has experienced a file read speed of only 3-4 MB/s after five years! When I copy files to another location, delete the original files, and then copy the files back, the read speed is restored. It seems I’ve encountered a historical “cold data” event. Is there a better way to restore data read speed without formatting the original system disk?
The slow speed is due to the controller having to reread and error correct blocks extensively
