Elements Drive not full but back up fails

Hi there:
I have a 1TB Elements Drive NTFS formatted, which until recently has been functioning well but on my latest backup attempts, has suddenly stopped, warning that there is not enough space to complete the backup. I have run chkdsk and defrag on the drive from the Tools tab - all seems fine.

However, the previous backups have not exceeded the available space, i.e. 912GB, typically backups have been around 350GB. In addition - the error code I am seeing is: 0x80780048

My PC is a custom build:Windows 7 64bit, 8GB Ram, AMD Phenom II X2 3.2Ghz, AMD Radeon HD 5700 graphics, 1TB HDD with over 300GB free, over broadband.
