Elements 8T won't spin up

I keep my Elements 8T external drive safely stored in a padded ironside case when I’m traveling, and I can verify it wasn’t dropped or jostled. But suddenly it’s not spinning up. I can feel heat close to where the plug inserts, but there’s no activity light, no vibration, no recognition from my laptop (which runs Windows 10). The cable seems to be okay…no breaks or frayed areas…and all connections are secure. I can’t test it on another computer because I’m on the road. My brother said this happened to his external drive once and he was able to download software that got it to spin up again. If this is possible, could someone please point me in the right direction? I absolutely must be able to access the drive in order to work. Thank you!!
