Eject or lock My Passport

Hi,

Can you help me how to eject the My Passport under Windows 10?

Whenever I want to use the OS’s eject tool it says the device in is use; however, no program runs (based on my best knowledge) and no windows are opened… The issue persist permanently as once the My Passport is connected to the laptop it is not possible to eject but only if I turn off the computer… What is a quite uncomfortable way ( I obviously don’t want to simply plug out the USB.).

I was wondering maybe first locking the My Passport might help but I am not able to figure out how to lock it once it has been unlocked…

So, primarily I would like to know how to eject properly the My Passport under Windows 10? Secondarily, how to lock the My Passport once it has been unlocked?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Please refer to the following KBA article: Windows & macOS: Safely Remove an External Drive

Hi Logan,

Thank you, but it doesn’t work. I referred to this option in the original question as whenever I try it, an error message always pops up and says the device is in use. However, I do not use it deliberately, I do not know what uses it, therefore I cannot stop that program.

Any other ideas?
