Easy, simple changes to boost functionality drastically

I have a few suggestions regarding the WD TV Live Plus HD Player!

1.)

It would really help in viewing media if the

UP arrow made the player skip three minutes forwards
DOWN arrow made the player skip one minute backwards
RIGHT arrow made the player skip thirty seconds forwards
LEFT arrow made the player skip ten seconds backwards

This would make it possible to access almost any part of a movie through
just a few clicks.

Please consider it in the next firmware update. This function is worthy
of it’s own firmware update in my opinion!

2.)

When I play a clip, say “001.AVI”, and click [next], to play
“002.AVI”, when I return to the folder view, “001.AVI” is still the
highlighted file. It makes more sense that “002.AVI” would be
highlighted being the file to be played last.

3.)

If I click [next] when watching movie clips, it would be nice if the
player would keep playing the files in the folder until the list has
reached it’s end. As it is now, it stops after a file is done playing, and I
have to manually select the next file again. This is good, but once I have
clicked [next], the player should assume I want to keep watching
all clips in the folder.

Thanks for listening

Your post sounds more like an Idea or a Feature Request. The best place for this is in our Ideas Lab. This way someone from WD will be sure to see it. However, I would search first and make sure that there isn’t another idea similar to yours that you could add your post to and vote on.

Yeah… your first suggestion aint ever gonna happen… its the same reason modern DVRs don’t have these features- it allows you to quickly skip comercials. Advertisers don’t like you skipping their ads-even in recordings… I could be wrong of course (what do I know) but i’ve seen these kinds of requests across all sorts of devices, and it never (ever) happens. Please keep in mind that old devices such as the original Tivo supported these features, but were dropped at advertiser requests in later models.

Item 3)  It already can.  Highlight ( but do not open) the folder containing the video files.  Press PLAY, not OK.  It will play all files in sorted order from that folder.

On the WDTVsmp, you have to put up with an annoying little status pop-up in the upper right corner each time a new video starts.

The removal of this status pop-up has been requested since the original WDTV.

Ardvark > My old media player, an Xtreamer, had this feature. Exactly as I described above. It was awesome.

The player however, had one major issue.

Playing MP3 audio and then digital audio caused it to crash. It sucked really bad.

Also, the interface was quite ugly.

It was a good player in most other ways.
