I’ve dropped my Western Digital 250gb passport & now its not working. The light on the device does light up & my computer recognizes that something has been connected but you cannot see the drive in the My Computer window. There is a clicking noise for about 10secs when the hard drive is starting up but then it gives up. I presume the thing is completely dead but is there any way of retrieving / transferring the data / memory. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 
You’re probably looking at data recovery if you want to preserve your warranty. You should always remember that backup means having your data in at least two locations.
