Drives disappears from SmartWare randomly

In the past two weeks my network drive has been disappearing from WDSmartware and as a result not backing up my system at the scheduled time. I’ve tried restarting my computer and restarting the WDSmartware but that doesn’t work. The only way to make it work is to restart the drive then it reappears in WDSmartware.

I’m not sure on how to prevent this from occuring but is there a way to have the drive auto reboot?

did you setup the device to have a static IP address (configure in your router for WM to have a reserved static address)?

No, I do not have a static IP for the SmartWare drive.

Do I need one??

Having exact same issues. Static IP did NOT help in my situation. Still randomly disappears. Only option at that time is Dropbox.

Try giving it a static IP address.
