Drive swap from 1 wd live hub to another

this is why i had asked since I have 2 of the exact same model hubs

but are they running the same Firmware Revisions ?

that may be the cause of why the ‘Hot Swapping’ of the Hard Drives is not working ?

(they changed a lot of database and internal stuff in various firmware revisions over the years)

AFAIK the Hard Drives have 3 Partitions … people have sucessfully upgraded and swapped hard drives in the past (just a couple of posts i’ve found)

And … YES, you can use a SATA to USB Adaptor/Enclosure to connect the Live Hub HDD to PC … have done it on several occasions

2TB in WD Live TV Hub!

I know i’ve seen a lot of post out there about if you can upgrade the HDD in the WD Live TV Hub and YES! You can, I bought a WD Green 2TB 2.5 HDD, and used a docking station to clone the 1TB to the 2TB for the partition and files, then went in an expanded the partition to the remaining HDD space and it works PERFECTLY!! I wish WD would come out with a 3TB or 4TB 2.5 then I would really be set!  Tenyrsgone

Formatting the hard drive

I have about 800 gig of music on the server, and due to problems getting the WD Live Hub to “see” the music I tried simply copying the music to the hubs internal 1tb drive…this failed, twice. I am now formatting the internal drive  - its been formatting for 24 hrs, which seems like an awfully long time… How long does it take to format the internal 1tb drive?
