Drive not shown in bios yet it shows on disk management?

hi all,

my hard drive is WDBAAU0015HBK

when i go into bios (as i want to reformat drive to put windows 7 on , currently as vista 64bit) it doesnt show my hard drive, yet it loads up fine to desktop, and it shows drive in disk management (right click my computer etc)

any ideas why it doesnt show up in my bios, it shows my dvd drive fine,

i cannot reformat my drive as when i attempt to install it says no drive, its blank on installation seciton (when trying to reformat) it gives options like refresh and load driver, (no idea where driver would be assuming i need one)

, ive run tests and the drive passes fine, yet i,m stumped as to why it doesnt show in my bios, as i need it to show so i can reformat as it shows no drive to install when it gets to install windows part (just shows no drive)

I’m not sure what you’re trying to do, but if it’s to install Windows 7 on the external drive, then you might check in your bios to make sure that it doesn’t have an option to boot usb unchecked.  Also, make sure that you have all your usb options, including usb legacy, turned on in the bios.

Technically, you’re not supposed to be able to install Win 7 on a USB drive. This thread contains a link which might help-
