My MyBook Essential 2TB peripheral drive is failing. It started by ejecting itself periodically, and now when I plug it in, the computer says the disk is unreadable. Any thoughts on how to fix?

Do you have a Windows computer in order to run a diagnostics using Western Digital’s Data Lifeguard Diagnostics software?
Have you been able to perform the suggested tests? If a Windows computer is not available, are you able to run a test on Disk Utility on your Mac? If the drive keeps ejecting, do you have the same issue with a different USB Cable?
