My guess is that new firmware will be released after another batch of gaping security holes will go public.
But maybe WD will surprise us. And maybe pigs will grow wings and start flying.
I’m a bit pessimistic about future firmware releases. However I’d like to help with a community firmware version…
This is my 3rd… and final…(unless things change) WD NAS.
I wouldn’t count on a new firmware.
One thing is consistent with the WD NAS devices… they make 1-2 updates after launch and then abandon the product as we’re seeing here. A same really, because I find the interfaces usually pretty easy to use, and work out of the box. But for a Pro-sumer level product, it’s terrible.
