Does this remove the WD smartware?

Can some one tell me if this works as i have seen it on certain website sand if it does it would be great!!! As i have a 750gig wd passport es and i want it cleared of that ■■■■ once and for all!!

 removal of the WD Smartware that I tried and it worked:

  1. Plug the drive in and boot the computer with the Windows XP install disc in the machine
  2. Go to the disk select menu and delete both partitions of the drive.
    3 Restart the computer and reformat the drive
  3. It Works!

SmartWare is a software that gets installed on your pc.  To get rid of it, you only need to uninstall it.
