Does Smartware have to be open

Hi All Forgive me if this is a stupid question but I am very new to all this. I have a My Cloud Mirror, now I have backed up my PC using Smartware then set it for continuous but the question is do I have to have Smartware running to keep the backups current.
The only icon in the system tray,Windows 10, is for WD Syc which though installed I haven’t used.

Hi @Neil1314

No, you don’t need to have the program open. WD Smartware installed a service called “WD Backup” into your Windows Services which runs all the time in the background. You have chosen “continuous”, so this service takes care about backing up the files, even if the program “WD Smartware” is not opened.

Thanks for that, yes I see the service running, should have looked for that but good to get confirmation.
