Do I need to update my WD Red's Firmware?

Hello,

I bought a 6TB WD Red in November 2015 and have been using it an Linux server since then (Openmediavault).

By chance, I have just come across a page the suggests that there might be an issue with the Harddrive’s firmware, that needs to updated:

I am not entirely sure what the implications of this are but is there a way to check whether my Harddrive already has the fix or whether I do indeed need to add it?

There is not any way to update the WD Red drive’s firmware.

If you are facing any issue with the drive. I would recommend you to run winDLG Full Test on the drive by connecting the drive as Secondary drive with your computer through SATA port.
