Do I have to SCHEDULE a daily backup?

The guy that sold me the MyBook said it was supposed to detect when files on the source computer changed,

and sync everything when they change.

But I don’t see any evidence that anything ever got updated or ever backed up

Is it something I have to initiate every day?

Say at a certain time of day?

The software that comes with the drive does not have a scheduler.

It will backup files automatically when possible. If you want to check if the software is working just run it.

Go to Start > Programs > Wd Smartware and check on the backup tap and see if the files were backed up.

If you need an application to schedule backups then you can try another backup software.

Hi Wizar;

Is there an on-line manual I can refer to?

I couldn’t find it - - - I want to see what files are being saved (synced)

How does it back up modified files without intruding into what I am doing?

Some software packages are VERY intrusive…

Thanks; Bill  S.

Yes, the manual is loaded on the unit on a folder called documentation.

You can also download it here :

It will work on the background , however you can go on settings and changed it for it to backup only when computer is idle, that way you can work without it running.
