We have long had the DL4100 set up to send notifications to 3 different emails. We have periodically tested this by sending out test emails that have been immediately received by all. However, we have never received an actual notification or alert from the unit.
Recently, we went into the server room to check out issues with another piece of equipment and discovered that there was a red light on the unit - a disk had faulted. This was similarly noted in the device website - drive faulted, but raid still healthy. A reboot cleared the fault.
However, no notification was ever received. We verified that notifications are on and are set to all. I have to think that a drive fault would trigger a notification (pretty useless if it doesn’t). I can still send out test emails that are received.
