DL4100 Upgrade failed, 4 sec. reset badly

We got an update advertisment on our DL4100 dashboard, and ran into several issues.

Did a 4 sec reset, and afterwards IP config and admin were reset, as we got told.
But: There is no “new password enforced”, there is only a new password set, it seems. So i have lost access to the backend, even over ssh.

Any idea what to do next?

Kind regards,

Udo

Have you tried the 40 second reset?

Nope. Since i cannot even logon after the 4 second reset: i did not want to make it even worse.

I have to remove both power cords, press reset again (and this time for about 40 seconds), and attach at least one power cord again, right?

Are the volumes harmed in any way?

Kind regards,

Udo

Data should remain intact. It’s not a data destroying system reset.

I followed the instructions from How to Reset a My Cloud PR4100 Device (wd.com).

It seems the device didn’t change at all. It does not even power on itself, as stated in the docs mentioned before. If i power on the device by myself, it seems to return in the previous state: The admin user set up myself is not allowed to loginn, and the user admin is required to provide a password i do not have.

WD Support is silent since yesterday.

Kind regards,

Udo
