I have a DL2100. When I log in the upgrade firmware icon is displayed. so for about a week I have attempted to upgrade to the latest My Cloud 5. I have gone so far as to factory reset, reload the required v3 firmware and still the firmware fails to update to Cloud 5.
I have also downloaded the DL2100 firmware and attempted to load locally. That fails as well
When upgrade starts the upgrade bar never increments and displays -1 which is always displayed wether upgrade occurs by clicking upgrade or bring to upgrade using the downloaded .bin file. The error posted is 1003 which from what I read is a timeout. Since this is downloaded that error makes no sense as file transfer is completed. So if anything this points to a hardware or signal timeout internal to the device.
Background:
This DL2100 has 5Gb memory, two 6Tb HDs and since factory reset has 5.92Tb available.
I am looking at how to resolve before I move onto out DL4100. Any solutions on how to resolve would be appreciated.
Thanks
I have an unproven theory. You may have to install the last released version of OS3, then upgrade with the first publicly released (not pre-release) OS5 firmware version and then upgrade to the latest OS5 firmware version.
I set extended error reporting and this is what was showed. I actually downloaded all Could 5 firmware updates to see if any of them worked. There is nothing here to indicate what’s happening.

Version: Firmware Release 5.14.108 (6/8/2021) Release Notes My Cloud OS 5: How to Update from OS 3
*My Cloud OS 3 firmware 2.41.116 must be installed before updating to My Cloud OS 5 firmware.
**Some features and apps from My Cloud OS 3 will not be available with My Cloud OS 5. Before upgrading, please review this Knowledge Base article for more details
Update to My Cloud OS 3 Version: Firmware Release 2.41.116 (12/08/2020) always works
Then I attempted 5.11 and it fails. Just to check I repeated the above process and incremented to 5.12 and it fail. I did this same process to 5.14. All fail
Like many others it seems my first few attempts at upgrading firmware “My Cloud OS 3” on my WD-DL2100 to MyCloud 5 using web dashboard failed I solved this by downloading
Did you do the upgrade from OS 2 or OS3? I’m upgrading from the latest OS 2.41.116 and want to make sure the leap to OS 5.11 as suggested here will not freeze up the drive.
