“Disk Not Ejected Properly” message

I have a G-RAID 16TB 2-Bay Thunderbolt 2 RAID Array connected via Thunderbolt to an iMac running 10.10.5 and I occassionally get “Disk Not Ejected Properly” messages. I still see the icon of the G-Raid on my desktop and assume this is not an accurate message. Is there a fix for this?

You can check your System Preferences > Energy Saver > uncheck the box for “Put hard drives to sleep when possible”

Sometimes the computer attempts to put the drives to sleep and it can sometimes cause the drives to idle out and disconnect.
