"Disappearing" Files on NAS drive

Greetings!

I’m having a strange problem here.

Some files in certain folders are disappearing and then later reappearing to only again disappear.

I’ve never seen this before and its very concerning as there are many important files here.

Any ideas where to start in solving this problem is greatly appreciated.
