Disabling software but still using password protection

Hi guys,

First of all, I’d like to say I agree with everyone here, Smartware is far from impressive. It seriously needs  to allow the user to choose the file and folder and just forget this silly categories that give you no idea or control over what is being backedup. 

Anyway I think we are getting nowhere with WD.

I bought this drive because it had hardware level password protection.

I want to uninstall smartware (I understand I can only hide it).

After I hide it, how can I use the password protection?

You can use encryption/passowrd (only able to unlock the drive; you must lock it with WD SmartWare) after uninstalling the WD SmartWare.

No, you can’t use encryption/password if you disable VCD.  The reason is that unlocking software resides in VCD
