Purchased a My Cloud Mirror to replace another NAS box that was failing. I had copied all of the content from the failing box to a USB drive (WD My Book), and need to ‘restore’ that content to the My Cloud Mirror. Is there a way to do this - other than using the Win Explorer ‘copy’ function?
Plug the drive into one of the USB ports on the back of the MCM. You can then either use the web file viewer (available under apps on the MCM dashboard) or SSH into the MCM and use the linux commands (cp or rsync) to do it directly. Personally I’d do the latter, but it’s a little more advanced player than using the file viewer.
Don’t use Windows on a remote machine, as then you’re doing your file copy via that machine, which will of course slow everything down, especially if it’s via wifi.
