Differences between WD30EFRX and WDBMMA0030HNC-NRSN revisited

According to the thread http://community.wd.com/t5/Desktop-Mobile-Drives/Difference-s-between-WD30EFRX-and-WDBMMA0030HNC-NRSN/td-p/753908 (which does not seem to allow me to add any further reply, hence this new thread) the two models

WD30EFRX and

WDBMMA0030HNC-NRSN

are identical, the latter being the full retail edition (Sealed box, mounting screws, documentation). However, the product description for the WD30EFRX ( http://www.wdc.com/global/products/specs/?driveID=1087&language=1 ) includes Linux as one of the compatible operating systems, while the description for the WDBMMA0030HNC-NRSN (  http://www.wdc.com/global/products/specs/?driveID=1292&language=1 ) is only listing Windows and Mac. Can you confirm that the WDBMMA0030HNC-NRSN is also compatible with Linux systems? Or is there any reason why Linux is not included in the list?

Welcome to the Community.

The listing is for support rather than compatibility since all hard drives can be formatted and partitioned to work on any operating system.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I assumed that the hard drive must be compatible with Linux, but I could not figure out what your “compatibility” entry was meaning to say.
