Device STILL connected to WIFI even while powered down?

My computer makes a sound when it recognizes my WD TV live streamer, it makes said sound even when unit is powered down.

My software " Who’s on my wi-fi"  discovers the WD device and says it’s ON even while the device is powered down.

What’s going on? :neutral_face:

First of all is your player actually turned off or in standby? Press the remote power off button for about 5 seconds to put the player into deep standby. If the player is in normal standby (short press of power button) then the WiFi will still be connected. This is so you can access any connected drives via your network.

On the other hand it could be a back door to allow the intelligence services to see what’s on your hard discs.:wink:
