How can I delete WD SmartWare.swstor from my hard drive? I want to use it as an additional drive only. I have tried to manually delete the folders, but I get an error message telling that it can’t find a file. My only options are to look again or cancel the delete. Thank you in advance.
Yes you can! you will be deleting the backup but if you don’t need it get rid of it
You can format the drive, right click > Format … Done
this will erase all data on the drive.
Thank you. But I have other information on the drive. Is there away to remove just the SmartWare.swstor without losing the rest of what’s saved on the drive?
If that other information is not part of the Smartware backup then deleting the backup should not affect the other files.

Thanks you, but we are back to my original question. I have a Smartware created backup along with additional data stored on the drive. I want to remove the backup created that is located in a directory called SmartWare.swstor. If I reformat the drive, it will delete all of the data. I only want to delete the data that’s in SmartWare.swstor. I tried to erase the directory manually, but I get an error message (Dialog box) that says "Could not find this item . This is no longer located on the F:. Verify it’s location and try again. The item listed is SmartWare.swstor. The only two options, are to try again or cancel the operation. Neither result in the deletion of the directory. This is the directory that I would like to erase. It says its not there, but it is.
I also tried to create a new back up, thinking it would replace what’s missing. I updated the firmware and this back up was created in a directory called WD_Smartware.
Thanks again for any help you can provide.
