Delete folder "wdsmartware.swstor" before installing Mavericks?

Hi!

In my zeal to delete all wd software before I installed Mavericks on my Apple laptop, I came upon the folder “wdsmartware.swstor”. I dragged the folder to trash and when I went to empty the trash I noticed that there were thousands of items to be deleted. I got nervous and restored the folder.

Do I need to delete the folder before installing Mavericks?

What are the consequences of deleting the folder?

I believe that is the backup file for Smartware.

Thank you for your response. I deleted one of the items in the folder. I checked my documents folder and the item was still present so I believe you are correct.
