I would like to delete a backup from a WD 4TB My Book Desktop External Hard Drive and start again. I have read in several places that I can simply delete the WDSmartware.swstor folder. But when I try this, the OS (Windows 10) tells me that several files need ‘Adminstrator rights’. I have administrator rights, but there are several sub-folders that I am still not able to delete! Has anyone else encountered this and found a way to get around it?
Hello,
Have you tried formatting the drive? It is easier than changing permissions.
Ouf! I think it’s too late to format the drive. I already have Lightroom
pointing at tens of thousands of images there. The backup is now inactive
and not really doing any harm. But it irritates me that I cannot just
delete it.

Hello,
Take a look a this link. Hope it helps
Impossible! I always end up being told I need permission from the
Administrator. But I *AM *the administrator. Sheesh, Microsoft!
