Defragmenting an external hardrive

Hey Guys!

I purchased a WD My Password Ultra 1 TB this Monday, and i just want to know whether it is safe to defragment this drive in the same way i defrag my internal drive regularly, and can you guys suggest me some tips on the maintenance of the drive so that you know it keeps going on and on even after the warranty period goes poof…

there shouldn’t be any issues with defragmenting the drive on the computer, however in my opinion I would recommend to degrafment the unit a lot since if done too frequently it might not be as effective.
